Oxford VFR RT Communications

This radiotelephony tutor has brilliant graphics, video clips and sound (including spoken introductions) and requires the user to interact using a mouse. This interactive RT tutor, created by Oxford Aviation Training, is designed to help you pass the JAR-FCL VFR Communications exam and to provide you with practical advice and assistance in learning and using RT skills. It is ideal for both the beginner and the qualified pilot alike. The learning process is enhanced by the audio-visual information presentation and the requirement of a user response etc. The tutor itself is based on the communications syllabus and the lessons follow the format of the ICAO Manual of Radiotelephony. The tutor is designed as a stand alone training aid to familiarise you with RT procedures associated to VFR flight. The tutor is also designed to comply with the JAR/FCL theoretical knowledge exams. A wide variety of RT transmissions are illustrated in the lessons and cover virtually all the situations a student is likely to encounter in VFR flight. Using the CBT, the student can visualise themselves in all their air/ground situations and hear the corresponding ATC and pilot transmissions. Flight scenarios can be re-looped as many times as wanted. In addition you have the ability to make radio calls yourself using the computers record / playback facility. You will need an additional microphone capability to use this function. The UK supplement to this CD contains lessons on the differences in UK RT procedures from those of the ICAO. It is designed to cover Lower Airspace Radar Service (LARS), VFR Flying in military airspace, the control of aircraft wishing to penetrate danger areas and aspects of the emergency service which are particular to the UK.

PPL Exam Preparation (Oatmedia)

Sterling Discount
Optimise your preparation for the PPL Examinations with this interactive Exam Preparation disk containing over 1550 questions and answers.
For the student working towards a Private Pilot's Licence, three important test hurdles have to be cleared. They are the two flying skills tests- General Handling and Navigation - and the theoretical knowledge examinations, often referred to as the "ground exams."

Passing the ground examinations requires two types of preparation. You must, of course, learn thoroughly all the subject matter in the different theoretical knowledge disciplines, but then, before you sit the actual examinations, you must also familiarise yourself with the level of difficulty and style of the PPL examination questions themselves. This PPL Examination Preparation CD-ROM from Oxford Aviation Training - one of the world's leading pilot training schools - enables you to do just that.

In addition to all the questions from the complete set of the renowned OAT/Transair PPL Ground Training CD-ROMs, over 540 new questions have been added to this Exam Preparation CD-ROM, making over 1550 questions in all. Using the CD-ROM, you can test yourself on individual examination subjects, or attempt a complete PPL-style examination paper. The CD-ROM will mark your work, give you your result and indicate the questions that you have answered wrongly, inviting you to select the correct answer.

JAA PPL Night Qualification CD-ROM

This multi-media course on CD-ROM aims to provide the private pilot with a complete training course for the JAA Night Qualification.

To qualify for the JAA Night Qualification the holder of a PPL does not have to take any tests, but must provide the CAA with evidence that the required training has been undertaken. This consists of 5 hours of dual and solo flying, at night, both in the circuit and on a navigation exercise.

This multimedia CD-ROM covers revision of basic instrument flying techniques and reminds the student of the physiological aspects of night flying, particularly the limitations of the human eye in low light conditions.

It then moves on to describe aircraft lighting, both internal and external, as required by the Air Navigation Order, followed by a detailed briefing on airfield lighting for both general aviation airfields and larger commercial airports.

The final section contains a blow-by-blow account of a night flight, covering particularly the use of lighting and the care required with electrical systems at night, concluding with night navigation and emergencies specific to night flying.
